As COVID-19 numbers continue to decrease and restrictions begin to lift across the state, museums are on the list of businesses eligible to reopen.
The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art is reopening to the public this weekend, after several months of being closed due to high COVID-19 case numbers in the area.

Museum staff member Maria Castro-Dara told KCBS Radio that "it's been 100 days since we were able to be open to the public. So as you can imagine, we've been planning and yearning for this day for a while."
While the doors have been closed, the museum staff has been at work creating new exhibitions.
Some staff members have been apprehensive about opening, due to potential COVID-19 risks.

The museum has put in place several safety measures, including social distancing rules and capacity limits.
"It's really magical sharing that experience of discovery with our visitors. That's really something that’s so unique and you can’t replicate on digital," said Castro-Dara.

The first day back open was a member's preview day and drew a lot of loyal members and art lovers. One visitor described how "magical" it feels to be back in person with the art.
The De Young and the Asian Art Museum are both open as well.
