The readers of Food & Wine magazine have voted San Francisco International Airport the best in the country for dining options.
Depending on how often you fly and how brand-loyal you are, there may be a lot of local restaurants with outposts at SFO that you don’t know about.
Even if you're just transferring flights, the airport provides a great taste of the Bay Area. "We expect that as travelers pass through here they want to get a little snapshot of San Francisco, they want to get a little feel for one of the best things that this region has to offer," said SFO spokesperson Doug Yakel.
The game-changer came about 15 years ago when SFO dropped its across the board concessionaire and opened up contracts with 80 different eateries, both local and giant. The appetizing list includes Amy's Drive Thru, Off the Grid, Farmerbrown, Napa Farms Market, Koi Palace Express and San Francisco Giants Clubhouse.
"I honestly think right now Mamagos is my favorite," Yagel told KCBS Radio.
You can find the vegan-friendly Filipino restaurant in Terminal 1.
