An abandoned boat in Tomales Bay has become one of the Bay Area's most Instagrammable-tourist attraction.
Right off of Sir Francis Drake Blvd. in Inverness, the old fishing boat is a long-time favorite of local photographers.
It was originally created as a World War II launch boat which transported soldiers from aircraft carriers in the Bay Area, a Dixon Marine Services’ official told SFGate.
The craft eventually made its way onto a sandbar where it has stayed for 20 years, attracting visitors from far and wide who flock to the ship for its easy access and picturesque appeal.
The boat’s livelihood was threatened a number of times by wetlands restoration, and for its status as a potential hazard, but the Point Reyes and Inverness communities have fought to keep the boat in place, the newspaper reported.
The charming hunk of metal is ready and waiting for more visitors, but Marin County Park Rangers warn Instagram seekers to refrain from climbing the boat as it is very old and potentially unstable.
