Power is being restored to PG&E customers throughout San Francisco after a fire at the utility company's vault caused over 2,000 customers to lose power.
San Francisco Fire Department Lt. Jonathan Baxter told KCBS Radio there was a vault fire at Steuart and Mission Streets in the Financial District.

Fire officials tweeted at 2:24 p.m. that the fire had been extinguished and the scene was released to PG&E. No injuries were reported.
Multiple crews worked to extinguish the blaze, which was active “underneath the ground in the vault,” Baxter said.
The fire caused many to lose power in downtown San Francisco, including the offices at KCBS Radio at 865 Battery St., which experienced multiple short outages throughout the morning lasting no longer than a second each time.
Mayra Tostado, a communications representative from the utility, told KCBS Radio the height of the outage caused 2,100 customers to lose damage. Nearly 900 customers were without power as of 3:13 p.m., according to the utility’s website.
According to Tostado, some of the "troubleshooting efforts" were impacted because some of the underground vaults were filled with water as the result of recent storms.
Streets within that area are expected to be closed for 24 hours, Baxter said.
