The new campaign began with a bang last week when the team traveled to Los Angeles and defeated the Lakers on the NBA's opening night, toppling one of the league's heavy championship favorites.

Two days later, the Warriors returned to San Francisco for their first game in front of a full capacity Chase Center since March 2020.

The energy inside the over 18,000 seat arena was palpable.

"For me, it felt like this is what Chase is supposed to be about, a full house for the Warriors, incredible crowd energy, and connection with our team," Head Coach Steve Kerr said on KCBS Radio's "Bay Current" on Tuesday. "Even though we aren't out of this pandemic, we are at least returning to some semblance of normalcy. It’s great to see people in the seats."

The Warriors fed off the fans' intensity once the game against the Los Angeles Clippers tipped off, led by two-time Most Valuable Player Stephen Curry who erupted for 25 points in the first quarter and drained his first 10 shots. The team went on to edge the Clippers 115-113 and Curry finished with 45 points.

While team success is certainly no stranger to the Warriors, Kerr added that this season’s roster is different from the ones he's coached in past, which includes three championship clubs over his seven years at the helm. "It's a new team. It's different from the team that won the championship. That team was better defensively with Andrew Bogut and Draymond Green. This team has more depth in its shooting than any team since I've been here," he said.

After a win over the Sacramento Kings on Sunday, the Warriors hope to remain undefeated as they fly East to play in Oklahoma City on Tuesday night.
