According to a Twitter thread posted on Sunday, a new agreement was negotiated to include elements the more than 400 essential city workers had been asking for.
The strike would have impacted services across the city.
The new three year contract includes a one-time essential worker bonus of $1,100 as well as 12% raises for workers, starting at 4.5% in the first year.
"The city made a commitment of no furloughs during the term of the deal, and puts focus commitments by both parties to explore wage and classification improvements that reduce turnover and improve retention by to making wages comparable to surrounding cities and employers," said the thread.
This comes after city workers faced furloughs during the pandemic in 2020 and even before that in 2007, according to a statement from the union.
Instead of the planned picket outside city hall, workers instead gathered Monday morning for a breakfast and to discuss the tentative agreement.
The agreement will now go before the members for a ratification vote later this week.
