An Oakland man was arrested on Monday for holding a woman captive over three days after they met on the dating app Tinder.

A preliminary investigation by Oakland Police revealed that the victim was falsely imprisoned and sexually assaulted by the suspect, according to KTVU.

The victim managed to escape from the suspect's East Oakland home and was helped by a good Samaritan in the area, who anonymously posted about the incident on the neighborhood social media site NextDoor.

The woman screamed for help, which drew the good Samaritan’s attention, according to the man’s post and the station. She begged him for help and told him she was kidnapped in a nearby home. The woman was "shaking, crying and almost incoherent," the post said.

The suspect approached them, but eventually drove away while the man stood with the victim. The good Samaritan’s family called the police.

Officers were dispatched to the 5400 block of Fleming Ave. after hearing reports of a kidnapping, police said.

They located the suspect and subsequently placed him into custody.

"This crime is still under investigation," Johnna Watson, Oakland Police Public Information Officer, told KCBS Radio. "The case will be reviewed by the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office for review and charging. We will release the name after the case is charged."
