Vegetation fire in Vallejo forces evacuations, damages nearby homes

An elderly woman was injured and treated for smoke inhalation when a brush fire swept into her home in Vallejo Tuesday evening.

Officials say the fire along Skyline Drive burned eight houses, three of them significantly.

The Vallejo Fire Department and multiple agencies were able to get the fire under control in about 90 minutes.

The Solano County Sheriff's Deputies assisted with evacuations in the area, where crews will remain on the scene.

As of 7:20 p.m., crews were able to get the fire under control, but evacuations for the neighborhood remain in place.

Vallejo Police say it began as a vegetation fire around 5:30 p.m. and quickly went to three, and then four alarms.

Mutual aide was called in from Benicia, American Canyon, Crockett, Travis, Dixon and Suisun fire Departments.
