Windsor mayor gets cease and desist letter in response to alleged video leak threat

Attorneys for a Sonoma County woman who claims to have been drugged and sexually assaulted by Windsor Mayor At-large Dominic Foppoli have sent him a cease and desist letter after he allegedly threatened to release a compromising video recording of her to local media.

Windsor town councilwoman Esther Lemus said Foppoli drugged and sexually assaulted her at his family’s winery.

Her civil lawyer Oscar Prado told KCBS Radio that releasing a video, if it exists, is an act of intimidation to try to prevent her from speaking to authorities.

"We do not want that type of video - or videos, who knows how many - to be circulated out because it really serves no purpose here and if they do exist, then the first folks who would need to see that video would be anyone undertaking the investigation," Pardo said.

Traci Carillo is Lemus’ victim’s rights attorney and she told KCBS Radio that if these videos exist, they are evidence of a crime.

"The taking of videos in an invasion of privacy," she said. "There are certainly criminal and civil, and then the actual dissemination of the videos is also criminal in nature."

Six women in all have accused the At-large Mayor of Windsor of sexually assaulting them over a course of two decades.

The attorney for Foppoli declined to comment for this story, citing it as a civil matter.
