Woman hospitalized in San Jose apartment fire now stable

A woman who was taken to the hospital following an apartment fire in San Jose on Tuesday morning is now in stable condition, according to fire officials.

A woman who was taken to the hospital following an apartment fire in San Jose on Tuesday morning is now in stable condition, according to fire officials.

San Jose Police performed CPR on the woman until firefighters arrived at the 1300 block of Lick Ave. at 10:50 a.m.

A San Jose Fire Department spokesperson told KCBS Radio the woman was then transported to a nearby hospital with "life-threatening injuries," and she was in stable condition as of Tuesday afternoon.

Two other people were assessed on the scene, neither of whom was taken to the hospital.

Six people were displaced and the Red Cross was assisting two households as a result of the fire, the spokesperson said. Two apartments were damaged, and the fire was contained to the apartment building by 1:02 p.m.

The fire’s cause remains under investigation.
