Major deals on spring and summer airfares are starting to roll out with many people itching for a post-pandemic getaway.
“Now that we’re seeing the vaccine start to roll out, there’s hope that maybe by the summer we will return to some sort of normalcy,” said SF Gate travel correspondent Chris McGinnis.
Now is the time to nab a huge discount on flights to Hawaii for the spring, for those willing to gamble that restrictions will be lifted by then.
“I’m looking at fares now of just a $177 round trip on just about every airline that’s flying between the Bay Area and Hawaii. That’s a remarkably good deal,” said McGinnis.
Most of California is currently under strict stay-at-home orders and some local governments, including San Francisco, have instituted quarantine rules for anyone traveling into the area.
But McGinnis says it makes sense to book a flight now and change your itinerary in the future if needed.
“You can at least make the reservation now and change it later on. You won’t get your money back, but you will get a credit for a future flight. But you won’t be charged a penalty… once we start seeing us bending the curve back down, some of these places will start to open up. Especially when you have low airfares, people are probably going to jump on the plane and go.”
