A 17-year-old girl in Ohio has been arrested after allegedly beating her older boyfriend’s mother to death with a rock after the mom disapproved of her.

Kaitlyn Coones of Cleveland is being tried by prosecutors as an adult on murder charges. She is accused of killing Nicole Jones, 53, the mother of her 33-year-old boyfriend, Jonathan Jones, in April of this year.

According to authorities, Coones killed the woman five hours after she had given her boyfriend an ultimatum to kill her himself.

Coones had also been living in a foster home days before the alleged murder, but she had left to be with Johnathan Jones, police shared.

Detective Jake Albright of the Sylvania Township Police Department spoke in court on Friday about the murder, Cleveland 19 News shared.

“Kaitlyn had told Jonathan that they needed to do something about his mother because she was preventing them from being together, and she gave him five hours to do something about her,” Albright said in court.

Lucas County Prosecutor Andy Lastra filled in the remainder of the alleged events.

“She went outside, retrieved a rock, and when Nicole Jones was standing in front of the refrigerator in the kitchen, unaware of Kaitlyn’s presence, bludgeoned Nicole Jones a number of times and strangled her,” Lastra alleged.

ABC 13 reported that prosecutors then allege that Jonathan Jones, who had been in the living room when the beating happened, and Coones drove to the store to buy a tarp to wrap up the body and clean the kitchen.

The body was then thrown into Johnathan’s car and driven to a nearby apartment complex, where they tossed it into a dumpster, authorities shared.

The couple then allegedly fled to the southern border, crossing into Mexico while Nicole Jones’ body made its way to a landfill where it still has yet to be found.

The foster home that Coones was staying at eventually reported her missing, leading to an investigation that resulted in them locating the couple in Chihuahua, Mexico.

After the arrest, Coones allegedly admitted to the murder, and police were able to verify the details she provided. She has since been charged with murder, aggravated murder, tampering with evidence, and abuse of a corpse.
