At around 3:45 p.m., Bloomington police announced they had secured the mall and are now in the process of interviewing witnesses. According to authorities, the suspect fled the mall on foot.
A video from inside the mall appears to show a man in front of the Nike store yelling at someone before a series of gunshots are heard and the video cuts off.
Following the gunfire, Mall of America tweeted at 3:02 p.m. that those at the mall should "remain in the closest secure space to them until the lockdown is lifted."
A video posted to Twitter Thursday afternoon showed mall-goers running from emergency exit doors into the parking garage. A second video, also circulating online, showed crowds of people running as announcers informed shoppers to take shelter.
The lockdown has been lifted and people are now being permitted to leave the mall.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
