In Wisconsin, a man allegedly molested a 14-year-old family friend while she was visiting her grandparents at a nudist colony in Minnesota over the summer. The colony is described as being “family friendly.”
The Star Tribune obtained a criminal complaint that named 69-year-old Steven H. Wicklund, of Pepin, Wisconsin, as the defendant in the case.
WARNING: This story contains graphic and potentially upsetting information.
Wicklund was charged last Thursday with third-degree criminal sexual conduct in connection to the alleged crimes.
In the complaint, police allege that Wicklund took advantage of the teen during her July visit to The Oakwood Club in Stacy, Minnesota, described as a “family-friendly” and “non-sexual” nudist colony.
Police shared that the girl was visiting her grandparents and Wicklund, who is said to be a “family friend.”
The 14-year-old and Wicklund were both sitting nude inside the club when he allegedly began raping her and forcing her to touch his genitalia.
While they were touching her, the documents say that Wicklund told her “it was fine and normal.” When she resisted and told him to stop, Wicklund allegedly forced her to touch him.
But the complaint doesn’t stop at her summer trip, as it alleges the harassment continued months after the trip ended, accusing Wicklund of sending explicit text messages to the girl and requests for images of her and her friends.
“Have you been masturbating or having sex with your girlfriends?” one of the messages reportedly said.
After the teen’s mom found the messages from Wicklund, she reported him to the police, and he was soon after arrested, the complaint says. It was then that the teen told her mom about the sexual assault at the nudist colony.
Wicklund is expected to appear in court on Jan. 12. His charges carry a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.
