Opening arguments in the trial were scheduled to begin Wednesday, after a slow start from complications with jury selection.
Following the COVID-19 exposure, U.S. District Judge Edward Davila said he will inform jurors Thursday whether the trial will start Friday or next week, Bloomberg reported.
Balwani is facing wire fraud and conspiracy charges the same as Holmes, with allegations that he deceived investors on the effectiveness of Theranos' blood testing equipment. Holmes was found guilty on four of the eleven fraud charges in January and is now awaiting sentencing in September.
In court Wednesday, Davila said the COVID-19 exposure was "limited" and that the person has tested negative, the outlet reported. The trial is following Centers for Disease Control guidance by putting the proceeding on hold.
