The ballots are in, and California have had their say about whether or not to recall Gov. Gavin Newsom.

The first-term Democrat isn't projected to be removed from office, according to CBS News. A number of candidates were vying to replace Newsom, including leading Republican gubernatorial candidates Larry Elder, Kevin Faulconer and John Cox.

Polls indicated a successful recall was unlikely based on a number of factors. Over two-thirds of California voters had voted no with 58.7% of the precincts reporting as of 8:53 p.m, according to the Associated Press.

Gov. Newsom's team was supremely confident it has enough "no" votes to keep him in office.

"There's no scenario where we lose tomorrow." a senior advisor to Newsom told CBS News on Monday. "We see the blue giant waking up. I don't see evidence of a red giant waking up in California."
