Mayor Eric Garcetti said Wednesday that Dodger Stadium and other four city sites will temporarily be closed Friday and Saturday due to lack of COVID-19 vaccination doses.

He said as of Wednesday, LA has administered more than 293,000 doses at the city-run sites. He said the city has distributed 98 percent of all doses of vaccine given.

"We don't have enough vaccines," he says adding the city isn't receiving enough doses soon enough. He said the vaccine supply is "uneven and unpredictable."

Garcetti said by Thursday, the city will exhaust its current supply of the Moderna vaccine for first dose appointments.

"The supply isn't there," he says.

Garcetti said he hopes to reopen the sites by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. He added this does not disrupt those waiting for second doses.

There was some mass confusion over the vaccine shots here in Los Angeles as thousands of appointments went unfilled at Dodger Stadium Tuesday.
