California Gov. Gavin Newsom, his wife and two of their children have tested negative for COVID-19 after two of the couple’s children tested positive on Thursday.
Erin Mellon, a spokesperson in the Governor's Office told KCBS Radio in a statement on Friday night that the Newsoms are "following all COVID protocols."

The Newsoms' oldest daughter, Montana, is 12 years old and thus the only one of their children eligible to be vaccinated against COVID-19. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has not approved any of the Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines for emergency or full use in children younger than 12.
The Newsoms reside in Fair Oaks, about 15 miles from the Capitol in Sacramento. Sacarmento County averaged nearly 179 cases per 100,000 residents over the seven days preceding Friday, placing it within the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's "high" level of community spread. Just over 64.3% of eligible residents are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus,
The vast majority of cases within the county are among unvaccinated residents, as is the case throughout the state and across the country.
"The Newsoms continue to support masking for unvaccinated individuals indoors to stop the spread and advocate for vaccinations as the most effective way to end this pandemic," Mellon said in a statement.
Newsom, a Democrat, will remain governor following this week's recall election, CBS News and the Associated Press projected within an hour of the polls closing on Tuesday night. With many vote-by-mail, provisional and other ballots still yet to be tallied, 63.8% of the counted ballots voted no on recalling Newsom as governor. Newsom is eligible for re-election next year.
Of the nearly 10.3 million ballots counted so far, almost 4.6 million (or about 45%) didn't vote for a replacement candidate following urging from Newsom and other Democratic leaders not to do so. Conservative talk radio host Larry Elder, a Republican, led the replacement candidates with about 2.7 million votes as of Friday night.
