As California’s vaccine eligibility expands to all residents 16 and older on Thursday, officials are expecting an onslaught of appointment hunters to visit the state’s My Turn website to reserve their vaccine.

That’s why the California Department of Public Health has announced an update to the appointment portal. If you look at it Thursday and again on Friday, officials said you would not see a huge difference, but little changes should make it easier to navigate and book vaccine appointments.

To sign up on My Turn, you’ll be asked to answer a series of health questions, enter your name and location, and a full list of nearby vaccine slots will pop up on the screen for the taking.

At least, that’s the idea.

Although with so many people trying at once, it could take some time and a lot of refreshing to find one. Officials said they've ramped it up so that it’s ready to process up to 300,000 transactions each hour.

Many health care providers and county vaccination sites are also using My Turn to book appointments, but there are still some clinics and larger pharmacies that the state is working to get connected with My Turn.
