SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – Authorities investigating the disappearance of a Tahoe teenager are struggling to find any person who witnessed Kiely Rodni leave a campground party before she went missing.

Rodni, 16, attended a party with 200-300 teens and young adults at Truckee's Prosser Family Campground the night of Aug. 5, but law enforcement said not a single person has admitted to seeing her leave.

"People aren't talking to us," Placer County Sheriff's Office public information officer Angela Musallam told the New York Post.

It is possible that many of the attendees are reluctant to speak with police as they are underage and are worried involvement will make them vulnerable to legal issues, Musallam said. However, she is clear, people should come forward without fear of repercussions as investigators' sole purpose is finding information about Rodni. "Just tell us what you know. Her family has suffered enough," she said.

Since her mystifying disappearance, authorities haven't found any leads indicating where Rodni may have gone after the party. In the early hours of Aug. 6, the teenager texted her mom that she would be "straight home" in about 45 minutes, but she and her silver 2013 Honda CRV never arrived.

In contrast with the struggle to find a witness, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office has received thousands of anonymous tips, many of which have proved to be futile. One tip led authorities to dig up a burial site, which turned out to be a dog grave.

Police recently released a surveillance image of Rodni at a local Truckee business before she left for the party. She was seen wearing a black spaghetti strap bodysuit, green Dickies brand pants with a black grommet belt and black Vans shoes.
