The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning as buckets of snow are forecasted to fall in the Greater Lake Tahoe Area.
The warning will take effect from 10 p.m. Sunday to 10 p.m. Tuesday. It signals the beginning of a five-day storm series that the National Weather Service predicts will see 8 feet of snow and 50 to 100 mph winds in some areas.

Donner Pass may receive 90 inches in the following days. "That's what we're forecasting, but we're seeing the potential for possibly 100 plus inches for areas along the Sierra Crest," NWS weather expert Eden Weishaunn told KCBS Radio.
Travelers should be aware of "difficult to impossible" road conditions in some areas and know that "lengthy travel delays are certain."
"We want people to plan on road conditions not being ideal for travel," Weishaunn said. "We already had a minor road closure this morning along Interstate 80 for some accidents."
An Avalanche Watch is also in effect as the fresh powder will fall upon hard packed snow. With the amount of snow and forecasted heavy winds, there will be instability in the Sierras, she warned.
