After a rocky start to the ski season in Lake Tahoe this year, resorts have reason to rejoice this week as snow is expected to blanket the area.
But commuters are being warned to drive with extra caution as the extra snow might increase hazardous conditions on the roadways.

"Lots of snow in the horizon starting tomorrow night all the way through the Christmas weekend," wrote California Highway Patrol’s Truckee station on Facebook on Monday. "Be ready for some winter driving conditions."
According to the Reno National Weather Services "Situational Awareness - When Should I Freak Out" chart high levels of "freakoutness" are expected starting Thursday with heavy snow, continuing through the weekend, according to a post by the Truckee CHP on Facebook.
"Rain and snow is moving into the Sierra with some light rain falling around the Truckee Meadows," The NWS tweeted Wednesday morning.
The warning reminded drivers to stay prepared for changing weather conditions. "This is especially so if traveling into the Sierra this holiday period," the tweet read.
South Lake is likely going to receive as much as one to three feet, with some areas expecting as much as five to seven feet, according to National Weather Service Reno meteorologist Heather Richards.
For the dedicated skiers and travelers making their way to Tahoe for Christmas, the Truckee CHP reminded drivers to put chains on their cars and drive with caution.
The Truckee CHP did not respond to KCBS Radio's request for comment at the time of publication.
