Las Vegas, NV (KDWN) – A United Airlines plane bound for Newark returned to Las Vegas Saturday night after a security concern with a passenger.
Police say a crew member noticed a passenger texting that he was going to hijack the plane. That crew member sent word to the pilots who immediately turned the plane around and headed back at Reid Airport.
Once back in Vegas, law enforcement met the plane at the gate to question the passenger, who up until landing remained entirely unaware that his texts had been discovered.
Passengers were given accommodations in Las Vegas for the night, and boarded a flight for Newark on Sunday morning.
