Las Vegas, NV (KDWN) - Clark County has launched a public awareness campaign displaying digital "no tipping" messages on marquees across the Las Vegas Strip.

The electronic signs are aimed at curb aggressive solicitation and informing tourists of their rights when interacting with street performers, costumed characters, and independent photographers.

The digital marquees feature Clark County branding on a bold red background and state: “When watching performances or taking a photo, Tipping is NOT Required.” They also remind visitors that tips are entirely voluntary.

The messages are currently rotating on major digital marquee billboards along Las Vegas Boulevard.

The initiative follows a surge of tourist complaints regarding aggressive hustlers. A primary catalyst was aggressive behavior at the landmark Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign, where unauthorized photographers were pulling tourists out of line and demanding payments.

While it’s legal for street performers and characters to accept voluntary tips, demanding payment or extortion without a business license is illegal under county law. The county has partnered with Las Vegas Metro Police to increase patrols around these high-traffic pedestrian areas alongside the rollout of the signs.
