Who is performing the Super Bowl halftime show and singing the national anthem?

While rap star Kendrick Lamar is the main performer taking the stage at halftime on Super Bowl Sunday, surprise appearances are always a beloved tradition during the iconic show.

In September, the 22-time Grammy Award-winning and Pulitzer Prize-winning rapper was chosen to headline the Apple Music Super Bowl LIX halftime show. This won’t be the first time the artist performs at the Super Bowl, as he also appeared in 2022 as one of several artists to perform alongside Dr. Dre.

Joining Lamar on stage on Sunday will include at least one special guest, SZA, according to an announcement from the league in January.

SZA and Lamar are launching a 19-city North American tour in April, and the pair have combined for a number of highly praised songs.

There have been no other artists confirmed to be appearing on stage with Lamar during his performance.

However, before the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles hit the field, several artists will be performing in some capacity.

John Batiste has been tapped to perform the national anthem before kickoff, a performance that is often bet on by sports gamblers who think it will either run long or short.

Also before kick off, Trombone Shorty and Lauren Daigle are slotted to sing “America the Beautiful,” and Ledisis is expected to perform “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”
