PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - There are now 48 positive cases of the coronavirus in Allegheny County.

That's an increase of eight from Sunday.

The Allegheny County Health Department says six people are currently hospitalized.

Officials believe there are additional cases that have yet to be reported because they "are not yet in the disease surveillance system."

The county reported the first fatality as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak over the weekend.

The state says there are 65 cases in Southwestern PA.

State numbers will be updated later Monday.

The Health Department also is addressing rumors that they can "increase personal and public health risks."

A Rumor Control website from the county can be found here.
