PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - While it may be hard to imagine right now, there will be a day when our lives will return to some form of normalcy, but Pennsylvania’s top medical profession says it won’t happen over one day.
During her daily update on Thursday, Dr. Rachel Levine said that social distancing will be relaxed over time.
“It will not be one grand day where we do that in Pennsylvania that would be extremely dangerous, and it certainly will not be one day, it’s going to be overtime,” said Dr. Levine. “It will have to go in a very slow, progressive fashion, perhaps community by community or county by county watching the situation very carefully for any increases that would require us to reinstitute something like social distancing.”
Dr. Levine adds the virus, not humans determine the timeline and that they have plans that will be put in place once officials deem it safe.
Governor Tom Wolf placed all 67 counties in Pennsylvania under a Stay-At-Home order through at least April 30.
Earlier this week Wolf said there is a possibility the order could extend past that date but he hopes he doesn’t have to.
