PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Actor Chazz Palminteri from A Bronx Tale, The Usual Suspects, and plenty of other hits, is in Pittsburgh promoting the musical A Bronx Tale, coming to The Benedum Center in November.
A Bronx Tale is really about not wasting your talents. It's about this young boy who has a mentor, who's Sonny, and obviously his parents and his father, especially, and the boy takes the best of the father and the best of Sonny,” Palminteri tells KDKA Radio, during an interview on Friday morning.

Sonny is a mobster who only wants the best for the young boy.

“Sonny told him the same exact thing as the father did - stay in school, go to college, make something out of yourself, and get out of the neighborhood. It's just that because of who Sonny was, people thought, well he wants him to be gangster. No we never wanted him to be a gangster,” Palminteri explains.

The actor from the Bronx wrote the play in 1989 after witnessing a murder take place while he was sitting on his stoop. It was later adapted in to a film, and now musical.
