Air Quality Alert Issued For Pittsburgh Thursday

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has issued an air quality alert for Thursday, January 23.

The PA DEP has issued a code ORANGE air quality alert for Pittsburgh.

The alert means air pollution levels could be unsafe to sensitive groups.

Those groups include children, the elderly, as well as people suffering from asthma, heart disease and other lung diseases.

The DEP says “effects of air pollution can be minimized by avoiding outdoor exercise or strenuous activity.”

A mix of sun and clouds are expected tomorrow with a high in the low 40s.
