HARRISBURG (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB), with authorization from Tom Wolf, announced that it will be exercising their authority to cease all dine-in services and on-premises consumption.
Another measure being taken by the Pennsylvania government to slow down the spread of Coronavirus.
All retail licensees, clubs, permittees, and producers must cease the sale of food and alcohol for on-premises consumption, effective at 8:00 PM today and until further notice.
Failure to comply with the order can lead to a citation, suspension of license or closure.
The mandate goes into effect March 18, at 8 p.m.
"Medical experts and public health professionals from around the world agree the best step we can take to slow the spread of COVID-19 is to stop gathering in public spaces," Board Chairman Tim Holden said.
"Extraordinary times require extraordinary measures, and this decision is not made lightly. But saving lives and protecting the health and safety of our communities is our highest priority right now."
Sales will still be permitted on the premises of license holders, but consumption on the premises is forbidden.
Beer distributors are still able to continue normal functions, but employ social distancing.___Listen to KDKA Radio on the RADIO.COM AppTell your smart speaker to "play KDKA Radio"Receive email updates from KDKA RadioFollow KDKA Radio: Facebook | Twitter | Instagram
