Senior care facility in Pittsburgh under Consumer Alert

Pittsburgh's Headlines: July 28, 2026

A long-term senior care facility and rehabilitation center in the Coraopolis area in under Consumer Alert after an inspection by the Allegheny County Health Department.

The Caring Heights Community Care & Rehabilitation Center on Coraopolis Road in Kennedy Township was hit with six total violations, one considered high-risk.

The high-risk violation is due to multiple items found in a walk-in cooler above the threshold temperature of 41 degrees or lower for cold-holding foods.

They include cooked noodles, pickles and milk cartons between 47 and 48 degrees. Those items were thrown away during the inspection.

The ambient air temperature was 48 degrees with logs showing the temperature at 42 or higher between July 20 – 27.

Also, “a few” mouse droppings were found in the corner of a dry storage area but no other pest activity was observed. That is concerned a low-risk violation.
