HARRISBURG (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – Allegheny County is confirming 19 new COVID-19 on Tuesday, 14 more than on Monday.
The total number of cases in Allegheny County have reached 2,027 after passing the 2,000 mark on Sunday.
1,899 cases are confirmed with 128 probable.
Of the 2,008 cases, 279 or 14 percent are in health care workers.
One death is being reported. The number of dead is now at 169 in the county. 157 of those deaths are confirmed and 12 are probably.
All deaths are in people ranging in age from 42-103 with 84 being the median age of those who have died.
The PA Department of Health reports that 35,809 people have tested negative for coronavirus.
The number of hospitalizations remains at 351.
The age breakdown of COVID-19 cases is as follows:
- 00-04 – 13 (1%)
- 05-12 – 18 (1%)
- 13-18 – 28 (1%)
- 19-24 – 133 (7%)
- 25-49 – 679 (34%)
- 50-64 – 537 (26%)
- 65 + -- 619 (31%)
The gender of those with COVID-19 are listed below:
- Female – 1,096 (54%)
- Male – 931 (46%)
While the county has not released numbers regarding a recovery rate, the state of Pennsylvania is reporting that 70% of cases have recovered.
Individuals who have recovered is determined using a calculation, similar to what is being done by several other states. If a case has not been reported as a death, and it is more than 30 days past the date of their first positive test (or onset of symptoms) then an individual is considered recovered.
