PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The Black Lives Matter mural painted along the Allegheny River will remain for now.

An artist painted the phase along with images of Antwon Rose, George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, all people of color who died at the hands of police, on the Riverwalk wall in Downtown Pittsburgh.

PennDOT usually paints over graffiti but says it is busy with maintenance work.

Mayor Bill Peduto supports the mural and has told Pittsburgh Public Works to not paint over it.

The painters of the mural did not have a permit.

Duquesne Light is providing lighting so that it can be visible at night as well.
