BEAVER COUNTY (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Auditor General Eugene DePasquale notified the Office of Attorney General on Friday of difficulties with engaging the Brighton Rehabilitation and Wellness Center.

The Brighton Rehabilitation and Wellness Center was set to have an audit last spring, but the process failed to launch as the facility managers at the time refused to initiate a schedule date.

"My audit was planned to ensure that Medicaid patients receive the services for which the state is billed by direct care providers," DePasquale said.

"I’d still like to audit Brighton and I’m very disappointed that they did not comply, but my audit team will not undertake this review while a state investigation is ongoing."

The audit was originally planned as one of many special financial-related performance audits and organized by the Senate Appropriations Committee.
