PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - One of the sponsors of gun control bills in council says he has received a death threat and other hate messages.
Councilman Corey O'Connor tells KDKA Radio's Lynne Hayes-Freeland he has received at least one threat to his life.
"We're public figures, we know sometimes this happens and especially when we're touching on a heated subject like this people tend to push the envelope a little bit," said O'Connor. "We understand it's a heated conversation, I get that but you know there's got to be better dialog than something like (a death threat)."
Mayor Bill Peduto who supports the bills reportedly receives death threats on a continual basis.
The bills other co-sponsor, Erika Strassburger, has received nasty email but no death threats.
