PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - There are now 50 positive cases of coronavirus among residents and 23 among staff at the Glen Hazel Kane Community Center and there is now a confirmed case at the McKeesport location along with one staff member
At least one staff member has tested positive for COVID-19 at all four Kane Locations in Allegheny County
In Glen Hazel four residents have died and two have been hospitalized. Kane in McKeesport has zero deaths.
In Glen Hazel 29 people have tested negative with 17 pending and eight have recovered.
In McKeesport, there have been 12 negative cases with four pending.
"Our singular focus during this difficult time is protecting and caring for our residents and staff," said Director Dennis Biondo. "We have been grateful for the continued communication with and guidance from the Health Department and remain focused and committed to ensuring that we continue to provide the quality of care for which we have become known."
Kane centers in Scott and Ross have had some resident's tested but no positive cases, but have had one staff member test positive at both locations.
The McKeesport employee last worked on April 13, Ross Township on April 10 and Scott Township on April 6.
"All employees providing patient care for residents who have tested positive, or whose test is pending, have been issued and are required to wear N95 masks, gowns, gloves and face shields or goggles. This also applies for the health care staff conducting testing of residents and staff. As noted previously, these mitigation efforts are in place for all patient care staff at the Glen Hazel facility. All other staff in the four centers are being provided with disposable surgical masks when they report to work each day," the county said in a release.
Kane Community Living Centers provides care for the most vulnerable in the community.
