PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020) - Gas prices are running six cents higher than surrounding counties because summer blend gasoline is for sale only in Allegheny County.
Butler, Beaver, Washington and Westmoreland counties have EPA waivers.
County Executive Rich Fitzgerald tells KDKA Radio's Larry and John he's as frustrated as anyone.
"For everybody around us to be able to pay lower gas while we're being singled out just isn't right, so we're lobbying, we're doing everything we can, I think we call them about every day and try to move on it," said Fitzgerald.
He says the Trump administration "will not help Allegheny County."
"I know Senator (Pat) Toomey and Senator (Bob) Casey as well as Congressman (Mike) Doyle and (Conor) Lamb are lobbying the EPA and the Trump Administration to do something but as of now we're singled out and that is just not fair," said Fitzgerald.
The EPA may make a decision on a waiver in early June.
