
PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Hockey Hall of Famer and former Penguins General Manager and Assistant Coach for the 1980 Miracle on Ice U.S. Hockey Team Craig Patrick has been announced as Larry's Heroes Lifetime Achievement Awardee.
Patrick, who helped form the first two Penguins Stanley Cup championships will sit down with Larry Richert for a Q and A during the annual event that honors five everyday people who do extraordinary things.
Larry's Hometown Heroes takes place in the banquet room at Rivers Casino on Thursday, March 26.
Patrick is being honored to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Miracle on Ice when the U.S. beat the Soviet Union and then went on to beat Finland to capture the gold.
Patrick’s family has been involved in hockey for generations.
The former Patrick Division was named after Patrick’s grandfather Lester.
His great uncle, father, brother, nephew and more have all been involved in hockey in some form.
The star-studded event will also feature long time KDKA Radio host Jack Bogut who will receiver the Legendary Broadcaster Award.
