PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - DEA National Drug Take-Back Day will take place on Saturday, October 26th.
The Pennsylvania Resource Council will have over 50 drop off locations just in Allegheny County, and over 5,000 locations across the country.
This is the safest way to dispose of prescription and over-the-counter drugs. If they are flushed down the toilet, the water supply can be affected.
“It ends up in a local wastewater treatment plant, and both the mechanical and chemical systems used in wastewater treatment plants cannot extract the medication,” Michael Stepaniak with the Pennsylvania Reources Council said, during an interview with KDKA Radio on Friday.
