BROOKVILLE, Pa. (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Two and a half to 14 years in prison, the sentence handed Catholic priest David Poulson who pleaded guilty to sexually abusing two boys in the Erie Diocese.
Poulson admitted to taking the boys to his cabin in Jefferson County between 2002 and 2010.
One of the boys was also assaulted in the church rectory.
At a news conference in Brookville, state Attorney General Josh Shapiro praised the sentence.
“Finally, justice was served upon David Paulsen, a priest who preyed on children for his own sexual gratification.”

Shapiro adds that evidence shows that the Erie Diocese knew Paulsen was a predator.
“For more than seven years the diocese allowed Paulsen to remain a priest even though they knew he was a predator, they allowed him to stay there.”
Shapiro says he made one of the boys go to confession for being abused. Poulson heard his confession.
“He even made one victim go to confession and seek forgiveness for being sexually assaulted. The priest that heard that confession was Paulsen himself."
