PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A “family nudist campground” in Beaver County has announced they will remain closed for the rest of 2020 and will reopen in 2021.

The White Thorn Lodge, on State Line Road in Darlington, PA, will remain closed until further notice amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The lodge says they are staying closed, “Due to the ever-changing guidelines of government and health organizations concerning this virus.”

The president of White Thorn says on its website the decision was not an easy one for them to make.

The lodge says they are a family nudist campground that has 200 wooded acres that offer “a family friendly atmosphere, campgrounds, sports and recreational facilities, weekend events, and the opportunity for renewal that is unique to the nudist experience,” according to its website.

The lodge also features a clubhouse for social events, pool area, sports courts, snack bar, hot tub, rentable cabins and more.

White Thorn explains why it is a nudist area on its website.

  • The human body is not harmful to see or be seen.
  • Nudism is not a sexual activity
  • Nudism is not against Christianity
  • Nudism WILL help your body image
  • Nudism WILL help your confidence

The lodge also features a State Line Streak Naked 5k and “The Superbowl of naked Volleyball.” Their 50th “superbowl” event will take place next year.
