Fans Had A Fun, And Safe, Day At Record-Breaking Garth Brooks Concert

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - It was a fun, safe day for the 75,000 fans at the Garth Brooks concert at Heinz Field on Saturday.

According to the Pittsburgh Public Safety summary published after the event, there were zero arrest and zero citations given, despite the record-breaking amount of fans heading into the show.

There were 22 EMS transports and 75 EMS treated at the scene incidents, but the majority of those were heat-related.

Mayor Bill Peduto tweeted at the stats from the day, thanking the Public Safety and Public Works crews for their hard-worked 24 hours, the fans, and thanked Garth Brooks for showing the Pittsburgh area so much love.

During his pre-show press conference, Garth discussed his love for the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Pittsburgh Steelers, saying that his fandom began as a child because of Pittsburgh Pirates’ Roberto Clemente and that he is “in love with Ben Roethlisberger, he’s my guy.”

Garth represented both teams during the concert, wearing a Pirates jersey with Roelisburgers’ name and number on the back.

"I'm not from anywhere around here but it feels like coming home everytime I come here," Brooks said during the concert.
