WASHINGTON, Pa. (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A Federal lawsuit filed by four Southwestern Pennsylvania counties seeks limits on the governor's authority to shut down the region's economy.

Washington County Commissioner Diana Irey Vaughan told Larry Richert and Kevin Battle on KDKA Radio Friday that Governor Tom Wolf exceeded his authority by imposing shutdowns in the face of the coronavirus.

"We believe there's been an overreach by the governor, we believe there have been constitutional violations by the governor," said Vaughan.

Butler, Fayette and Greene Counties have joined in the federal suit.

Four Republican lawmakers and several businesses have joined in the suit.
