PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A feral cat found in East Pittsburgh has tested positive for rabies.
The cat was brought to the Allegheny County Health Department after it was picked up near the 600 block of Linden Avenue.
It’s the fourth animal that has tested positive for rabies in Allegheny County this year. So far one bat, one groundhog, one raccoon and now a cat.
The public is reminded to watch for unusual behavior in animals and make sure pets are up-to-date on their rabies vaccinations.
If you see an animal acting strange and contact your local animal control service, local police or PA Game Commission.
Anyone bitten or scratched by a wild animal should seek medical treatment immediately.
