ROSTRAVER, Pa. (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A heartbreaking fire Sunday in Westmoreland County.

An elderly couple and their dog were both killed in the flames, and their son is a Collinsburg Volunteer Firefighter.

The victims have been identified as 81-year-old Marie A. Oblak and 83-year-old Lloyd D. Oblak.

The fire started around 2:00 a.m. on Sunday morning at the house on the 800 block of Collinsburg Road.

Collinsburg Fire Chief Joel Koricich told The Tribune Review the flames were too intense for the crews to go in.

Koricich said the fire was fully involved when they arrived and had to fight the flames defensively.

In a social media post, the fire company says their thought and prayers are with the Oblak family.

Crews from Rostraver, Turkeytown, Smithton, Elizabeth Township, Sutersville, North Belle Vernon, Washington Township, Murrysville, and Donora helped on the scene with the fire and following cleanup.

Crews were on the scene for about 5 hours.

An investigation into the fire is underway.
