PITTSBURGH (News Radio 1020 KDKA) – A tax on natural gas extraction is again proposed for Pennsylvania, this time it’s tied to a mammoth infrastructure plan.

Governor Tom Wolf has tried to get a natural gas excise tax passed every year he's been in office.

Now he wants to use revenue from the tax to fund a plan called Restore Pennsylvania, “I think makes this a very different proposition and I think makes it even harder to resist.”

Harrisburg Republicans have resisted an excise tax.

The Governor would spend four and a half billion dollars over four years to pay for things like transportation, manufacturing and business development, disaster recovery and high speed internet.
