HARRISBURG Pa. (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) Today, Gov. Tom Wolf released a status update regarding the state's mitigation efforts and the COVID-19 Early Warning Monitoring System Dashboard for the week of July 3 – July 9.
In the update, Gov. Wolf said that it is still important for everyone to wear a mask and maintain social distancing.
"By looking at both statewide status and individual county status, we can take steps to stop increases before they become critical," Gov. Wolf said. "One thing we know for certain is that we must continue to wear masks and practice social distancing."
The dashboard is designed to provide early warning signs and factors that affect the state's mitigation efforts, including week-to-week case differences and positive test rates.
As of July 9th, the state has seen a seven-day increase of 4,914 cases, over 600 cases higher than the previous week.
"Risky behavior such as going out without a mask and congregating at a bar or in a crowded setting where social distancing isn't being practiced are leading to spikes in cases and higher percent-positive rates, Gov. Wolf said.
The statewide positivity rate of COVD-19 is 4.4%, while counties like Allegheny (7.9%) and Washington (7.1%) are seeing over 7% rate.
