PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) - Tuesday's afternoon rush was no fun for motorists traveling towards Homestead.
A miscommunication between the Allegheny County Department of Public Works and a contractor caused huge delays because of a rehabilitation project on the Homestead Grays Bridge.
Crews were supposed to be working overnight but were on-scene during daylight hours, restricting one lane of the bridge in each directon.
Traffic backed-up on Browns Hill Road to Beechwood Boulevard to the outbound Parkway East as well as into Homestead.
County officials talked to the contractor, who will resume work on the project tonight beginning at 7 p.m. The work will continue through Saturday, May 18th, weather permitting. Here is the updated schedule:
Thursday and Friday's East Fifth Avenue ramp closure detour will be Amity Street and East Eighth Avenue.
