PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Most dental procedures are considered "non-essential" during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The guidelines seem to change week by week in terms of what we can do. But for right now, it's basically just emergency care," Dentist Ben Carrico said, during the KDKA Radio Morning Show on Tuesday. "Regular cleaning, exams, check-ups, routine fillings – that stuff is all on hold for the time being."
However, a non-emergent issue can develop in to a serious problem very quickly.
As he waits for the greenlight to open, Carrico is in the process of instituting safety protocols.
"Whenever a patient comes in, we're going to have a questionnaire ready for them, we're going to take their temperature – make sure that there's no signs or symptoms of Covid,"
They will also limit the number of people in his waiting room by having individuals wait inside their cars, among other precautions.
