PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The Allegheny County Jail has its first case of coronavirus in an inmate.

Since March, 20 percent of the inmate population has been released to prevent viral spread and visitors have been restricted and screened.

The patient and their cellmate have been isolated.

I release from jail officials says physically distancing “continues to be stressed to employees and inmates across the facility. All pods are now on split recreation to reduce potential interactions.

Three inmates filed a federal class action lawsuit Wednesday against Allegheny County, claiming dangerous conditions in the jail during the pandemic.
